FAO finances $1.6 mln project enhancing displaced income in Yemen

SANA'A, Nov. 21 (Saba) - Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) agreed on Monday to finance a project worth over $1.6 million enhancing displaced families' income in Yemen.

The agreement was signed by Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Mansour al-Hawshabi and FAO representative in Yemen Dr. Fuad al-Domi.

Under the agreement, FAO finances the project that supports the agricultural crops production, keeping livestock, maintaining food security, providing income for the displaced families and their host communities in Hajjah province as well as facilitating the return to their homes.

Around 7,400 displaced and host families will avail from the project that targets three areas in Hajjah province.

Furthermore, the two sides signed an agreement of the project to strengthen the veterinary quarantine capacities in the Middle East's States.

Besides Yemen, the project worth $307,000 includes Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
