The International Committee of the Red Cross says two of its staff members and a Yemeni Red Crescent worker were kidnapped while traveling in the country's restive south Tuesday.
Marcal Izard, spokesman for the Red Cross in Geneva, says one of the staff kidnapped is a driver while the other is a foreign delegate.
Izard told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the aid group is in direct telephone contact with its staff, who confirmed they were being treated well.
A Yemeni security official said Tuesday that the military was negotiating the aid workers' release with the Southern Movement, a secessionist group that wants independence for the south. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporters.
