Tensions calmed down in Sana’a, escalated in Taiz

The situations in Sana’a calmed down at 2:30 am Sana’a local time after fierce confrontations between the security forces and between the defected army backed by the militias of Islah party and militias of Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar.
The confrontations of last night extended from Zubairi street in the center of Sana’a to al-Qa’a neighborhood, Zira’a street, Hasaba nighbourhood and northwards to Sofan complex in the far north of Sana’a.
The president of the republic Ali Abdullah Saleh instructed the committee that was assigned by his deputy Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi to remove all military presence from the streets of Sana’a and to commit to the ceasefire said a security source on Saturday.
However newsyemen.net reported that the situations escalated in Taiz city. The website quote a military source from the defected army saying that the forces loyal to president Saleh attacked the camp of the First Armor Division in Taiz and that over 12 soldiers from the defected army were killed and dozens were wounded today noon.
The same source added that the government forces shelled the protesting site in Taiz and that many people were wounded.
No independent source was available to confirm what really happened.
