Political dialogue can solve Yemen crisis but no resolutions, says an official



 An official source announced Wednesday the Yemeni government's is committed to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s initiative.

"The government is committed to sign the initiative and its executive mechanism in accordance with President Ali Abdullah Saleh's mandate to the Vice President", the official stressed.

The Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) has impeded the implantation of the agreements reached through regional and international efforts, the source said.

Concerning the Security Council's deliberations on the situation in Yemen, the source underlined "The crisis will not be solved via issuing resolutions, but via coming to a political solution and a mechanism to execute the Gulf initiative".

He called on the Security Council to work on presenting development aid and assisting in tackling the economic situation Yemen was suffering from due to the current political crisis.

"Since his return to Yemen, President Ali Abdullah Saleh is contacting with all parties to reach a truce, stop all forms of violence, remove armed manifestations and push for signing an executive mechanism of the Gulf initiative", the source said.

The Yemeni government pinned hopes that the Security Council would deal with the Yemeni crisis based on the keenness to be solved and not to adopt any resolution increase its complexity.
