Yemen ruling party: peaceful power transfer must based on Yemen constitution


Vice president: deal with the opposition to be reached in the coming few days

The General People Congress party GPC and its allies the mutual collation parties welcomed the international calls for a peaceful transference of power that doesn’t contradict with the Yemeni constitution.
At the conclusion of their meeting the GPC and allies issued a statement in which they insisted that the peaceful transference of power should base on the GCC initiative and its mechanism that is still under discussion between the different rival parties.
They said that President Saleh was elected by the Yemeni people in 2006 and that the issue of transferring power should be through an early elections.
The parties also expressed their dissatisfaction for the behavior of the leaders of the Joint Meeting Parties that used the youth uprising for endangering the security and stability of the country.
The statement also praised the efforts of the GCC member states and their position in support of the security, stability and unity of Yemen.
Earlier in the day the vice president Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi said that the president authorization to him for conducting dialogue with the opposition and for signing a deal for a peaceful transference of power with the opposition is still valid.
He added that lots of efforts were paid for achieving this issue and that there were positive results so far, expecting to reach a final deal in the coming few days. 
An official source at the presidential office denied that Yemen’s file was referred to the Security Council.
The source denied that a source at the office of the Vice president Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi had told the BBC that Yemen’s file was referred to the Security Council for implementing the GCC initiative based on the Article Seven.
The source said that such statement was baseless and that there is no person that is authorized to issue statements on behalf of the Vice President.
The source called for verifying the truth and accuracy and to not publish lies and fabrications that has nothing to do with the truth.
The BBC has quoted a source at the office of the vice president as saying there was an American, British and French intention with GCC approval to refer Yemen’s file to the Security Council for implementing the GCC initiative according to the Seventh Article.
The BBC quoted a source at the Vice president office as saying that Hadi had paid great efforts to reach a deal for transferring power peacefully before referring the GCC initiative file to the Security Council.
The Presidential office source said that the General People Congress Party GPC that is the ruling party insists that President Saleh should not step down and that the only path for transferring power peacefully can only be achieved through early elections to be observed by the GCC and the United Nations, pointing out that the GPC is to issue a statement on this concern late on Monday.
