Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi stressed on the importance of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s role in solving the current crisis in Yemen.
Al-Qirbi made the statement upon his arrival to Sana'a after a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"The GCC's role is significant to persuade Yemeni sides reaching an agreement on timelines for the executive mechanism of the GCC initiative and achieve a peaceful and constitutional transfer of power", al-Qirbi said.
During the visit, al-Qirbi met with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and GCC's Secretary-General Abdullatif al-Zayani.
The talks focused on the developments of the political crisis in Yemen and the outcomes of the dialogue with the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) for setting up the GCC initiative's executive mechanism.
