Battles Resume on Outskirts of Yemen Capital; Four Dead

Clashes between the army and tribes in Arhab district on the outskirts of Yemen’s capital Sana’a resumed on Monday with four tribesmen reported dead, newsyemen.net said.

Citing local sources, the website said that warplanes struck the villages of Salman and Al-Marzah near Al-Furaija military camp within the attempts of the republican guard to occupy more lands in the district.

At least four tribal fighters were killed in the battles but there were no reports on casualties among the soldiers, it said.

However, tribal fighters destroyed some tanks and other military vehicles, it continued.

The army has been fighting the local tribes in Arhab and nearby districts for months on the grounds the tribes started attacking and occupying military camps and units in support of the popular revolution seeking the ouster of the regime.

Many soldiers and tribesmen have been killed and tens of thousands of families displaced coinciding with other crises Yemen has been experiencing for seventh months.
