Power outage spread in Sana’a the capital of Yemen for the past two days all day and night except an hour every 13 hours as the power corporation could provide power for citizens to be able to pump water and do essential things that depend on power.
The power corporation said that the outages were a result of sabotage acts by tribesmen affiliated to Islah party in Nihm district. It alleged that some saboteurs damaged the power cables that link Marib power station to the capital and other cities in Nihm district.
The ministry of interior announced bounty for any people that can help for arresting 11 saboteurs which the ministry accused of damaging the power cables and power towers.
The opposition accused the government of not providing electricity services and that it uses this as a means for a collective punishment for the public.
The outage prevented journalists including me from reporting the confrontations and events taking place in the capital.
Over 80 people were killed and tens others wounded in the confrontations that erupted between the security forces and protesters backed by the defected army, militias of Islah party, militias of Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar and militias of the Iman Islamic university in Sana’a since Sunday.
