KSA sends weapons to Yemen

By Mohammed al-Kibsi
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia dispatched tens of armored vehicles, including tanks and other military equipment to Yemen so as to help Yemen army quell al-Qaeda fighters in the south and north of Yemen, said a military source on condition of anonymity.

However opposition media outlets including Yemen Post alleged that the weapons were sent to Yemen in order for its regime to quell the rising popular movement against president Saleh.
Yemen Post mouthpiece of Ali Mohsen and Islah party said having attempted for months to bring a political solution to Yemen’s popular uprising, it seems that the Kingdom has exhausted its diplomatic avenues, preferring to refer to oppressive methods to re-establish tranquility.
Yemen Post added that this was the second  time this year that Saudi monarchy is using the military as a way to tackle discontent in the region. Only recently, Saudi tanks were advancing in the Bahraini capital, Manama, aiding the Khalifa to abet his crackdown against his detractors.  Soon enough the streets were silenced.
Yemen Post added that members of the Yemeni Opposition told the pan-Arab daily al-Quds al-Arabi that “A motorcade of Saudi armored vehicles and military aid entered the Yemeni soil to help the forces of the regime of [Yemen's] Ali Abdullah Saleh.”
Yemen Post commented by saying that politicians are now criticizing the more, accusing Saudi Arabia of not upholding its moral obligations towards Yemen. “How can a modern state condone a government which uses violence against its own people? How can the King criticizes Syria for killing its people and send Saleh weapons? said a pro-democracy activist in Sana’a.
After defeating al-Qaeda in Zinjubar President Saleh hailed the Saudi logistic support and the USA intelligence support for quelling al-Qaeda militants and for ending the 4 months besiege imposed by al-Qaeda fighters against the 25th mechanical armor brigade in Abyan province.
