GCC chief says initiative on Yemen still on table

JEDDAH, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) initiative over Yemen is still on the table, Secretary General of the six Arab Gulf countries Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani said Sunday.

At a news conference after the GCC foreign ministers' meeting earlier today, Al-Zayani hoped all parties in Yemen would reach an agreement that would preserve their country's security, stability and unity.

Asked about Syria, Al-Zayani reiterated calls for ending the violence and bloodshed, as well as speeding up the pace of reforms.

Regarding Libya, the GCC chief said "we welcome the control on all (Libyan) territories" by the National Transitional Council.

He called for the opening of a new page in a drive to achieve stability and security in Libya.
