General Mujahid al-Quhali assassinated, Yemen Ministry of defense

General Mujahid al-Quhali was reported killed by dissident militants in his home located in Musaik zone in Sana’a on Sunday.
The Yemen Ministry of defense issued a condolence statement on Sunday who was killed by what the ministry called as outlaws elements while was in his home in Musaik zone.
General Mujahid al-Kuhali  was considered as one of the strugglers of the September revolution and one of the heroes of the 70 days during which Sana’a was besieged by the monarchy forces in 1967.
He had served in the Yemen army and granted many posts among which were the commander of the modern battalions of the Yemeni army in Amran province that were formed following the 26 of September revolution in 1962, commander of the reserve battalions forces, commander of the gorilla forces, commander of the fifth infantry brigades.
General al-Quhali had left Yemen following the assassination of former Yemen President Ibrahim al-Hamdi and stayed abroad as a political assailant until the reunification of Yemen in 1990.

Following the upraising in Yemen that erupted in February al-Quhali showed loyalty to president Saleh and appeared on TV several times accusing al-Ahmar sons and defected General Ali Mohsin al-Ahmar of being corrupt.
The defected army and al-Ahmar sons accused him of recruiting fighters for president Saleh so as to fight them.
