National Council Forms International Contact Group to Mobilize Support to Yemen Revolution

The Yemeni national council has formed an international contact group from Yemeni journalists abroad to mobilize support to the Yemeni revolution and accelerate the achievement of its goals.

In a press release at the end of its meeting on Thursday, the council, which was formed by the opposition groups weeks ago to accelerate the ouster of the regime, also approved to expand the representation of the youths, women and civil society organizations in it.

Shortly after its formation, the council suffered a setback due to the withdrawal of some members, mostly from the south, triggering reconsideration of the memberships. Some 23 southern opposition figures and others including youth leaders refused to participate in the council, with the southerners the council should be 50-50 between the north and the south.

The meeting discussed the mechanism to select the council executive board and permanent bodies till the seven-month revolution succeeds, as it condemned the unconstitutional acts of the remains of the Saleh regime including suspending the salaries of the military units and other employees who joined the popular revolution.

This week, the opposition started the final stage of revolutionary escalation calling organizing massive demonstrations in main cities and expanding the revolution into all towns and villages to press the ouster of the regime.
