A French tourist and his wife were reportedly rescued by the international forces off Yemen coasts, said AbdulRahman Mousa deputy head of the Yemen coast guards Aden sector on Saturday.
Mousa added that the French couple had left Aden on September 4 on their yacht after they visited Aden from August 19 till September 4.
He added that the available information showed that the yacht issued a mayday signal after suffering technical fault in the international waters, about 120 nautical miles off Yemen coasts
“The French yacht carried the tourist and his wife had left Aden port on September 4 after they spent a tourist visit in Aden began on August 19,” said Mousa.
Meanwhile BBC reported that French hostage has been rescued from pirates off Yemen and her captors detained but a second hostage remains missing, EU defence officials say.
Spanish troops operating with the EU's anti-piracy force, Navfor, intercepted a skiff on Saturday, two days after the hostage's catamaran was found.
The hostage was freed and all the suspected pirates detained, Navfor said in a statement.
Spain's defence ministry said seven pirates had been detained.
The Spanish warship SPS Galicia had tracked the skiff after Navfor received a distress call from the catamaran, which was found abandoned.
After the skiff ignored an order to stop, the commander of the Galicia ordered his men to open fire, and a naval warfare team fired on the boat's engine to disable it.
